Thought we’d go for a walk in the park yesterday… just not possible with Stanley Park however. This place is just too huge. There are 5 restaurants, numerous cafes, miles & miles of bike & pedestrian track & Vancouver Aquarium is also tucked away in a corner of this oasis.
$40 got us a couple of bikes for the day – not quite what we had in mind being within distance of what we regard as mountain bike mecca, but that is not what this trip is about so we got over the clunky gears & got out there.
The outer route (more like a ring road) does not actually lead anywhere other than to other trails or to where you started from. Considering this, the place is a constant stream of cyclists, joggers, inline skaters (didn’t think people did that any more, but there are 100’s), & one guy on what can only be described as rollerskis complete with poles.
Spent some time in the aquarium too… for anyone who keeps tropical fish, its like your tank, but bigger. Oh, they do have beluga whales, but had had enough of the day by this time which I s’pose is a shame, but the crowds were getting to us a bit after the openness of the park.
Updated the Vancouver photo album with some more pics….
